Peace Day 2011

About a year ago wrote a post about my peace day in elementary school but now I that I have seen a formal non-fun peace day and then this year's experience I have a new opinion.

I remembered that is was peace day during P.E everyone was setting up something, benches for skateboard ramps to a huge inflatable arch. I just sat on a bench reading, very peaceful I must say. When the wii got going and people from other grades started coming in I got curios and went inside to find a really cool dancing game. I stayed in there for a little while until some people asked me why I wasn't dancing I pretended that I didn't hear, which was very possible the music was turned up so high. I went out and a girl, older than me, was lip singing a flamenco song. I wanted to just go pick up the microphone and sing ''We are the World'' (the song that my old school would be singing that day). When I told my friend, Alejandra so. She told me to do it. I almost did it then backed away. WAY to embarrassed.

I went to Alejandra and told her that I couldn't do it what if he kicked me of the mic.... But she was determined she took me to Dani, an important guy in the school but I don't know exactly who, and announced that I would like to sing. I probably looked like a ripe tomato. When he saw that I had no music he asked if I was going to sing it acopella. When I said yes he told me that I should go and try it. I think that he was doubting that either I would do it, or he wanted to make sure what I would be singing is clean.

By that time I was shaking and wanting to go and hide under one of those skateboard ramps that now had skate boards on them. Well I went up and the group of girls that were still there for their lip singing flamenco songs. They immediately stepped back when I asked for the microphone and left it on the table. I shuddered before picking up the wire free mic. Alejandra had gone and hid, too embarrassed to be with me. I sighed, when will she learn the real meaning of friendship?

As soon as I started I wish I never came to school. I hit all teh notes perfectly but, still, this gang of girls loomed over me with cell phones videoing and nodding their heads to the beat. I sighed, not that I didn't like the attention, just that my classmates, everyone that was in sight was staring at me as if disowning ever knowing me.

Dani seemed to be satisfied with my singing and told me I could do it for the rest of the schools when they got here. I nodded, still blushing and nervous. By the time the other schools got there and we ran, I was used to and exited about the idea. I can't stay nervous very long when preforming is involved. The only thing that was a little nerve racking were the news cameras that loomed over every one.

By the time I sang the cameras were gone a a large group of kids gathered around me like a bubble of fans. I stared, timidly but then picked up speed. I once again sung it well, save that I ended it early.

For weeks random people would stop me and congratulate me on my well sung song. And until teh last day of school Dani would not leave me be, telling me that I should sing again.
