Vast Faith in One Girl

I know this girl, Laura, and her testimony amazes me and the thought that I held a part in it seems surreal. I think that her story is by far worthy of mentioning here on my blog.

Laura and her family were strict Roman Catholics. She grew up in that environment, but knowing that there was something else out there. She came to a Bible study, that I was apart of, and later said that she sensed that something more when she was with us. We all loved this girl from the beginning; she had a hunger for God, was sweet, funny and beautiful.

Once a trust wall was built she shared with us the horrible night mares she had been having for a while. She repeatedly had a dream in which the devil would approach her and tell her to decide between her family's lives or the lives of the other humans on the earth. Now, reader, I ask you, what would you have chosen. Well Laura would choose the world and her family, who (if I remember correctly) were then burt in a box right before she woke. We prayed over Laura and over the dream. But it wouldn't go away.

Laura was chained with fears and tradition. Her aunts began coming to our church, and she did as well. Laura and I began to have a relationship deeper than that of a sister. She trusted me completely and I her, I wish that such a trust could be found everywhere in the world; not just in the heart of best friends.

Well, Ada (the Bible study leader) decided to host a retreat for the girls in her group. The retreat was about the Holy Spirit and the first night Laura had a vision. The vision consisted of all of us girls were praying in worshiping in something that, when she explained it seemed like the Garden of Eden. But then something that seemed to be like the devil (or so she explained it) came in and burned down the garden; chasing us out. I felt lead to pray for her protection. I did so, with some of my other sisters in Christ. Laura and I were left sitting out on a pool chair, wrapped in towels as blankets, letting the cool night air give us the chills while the others went inside to prepare for bed.

We had yet another talk about God, and I was telling her something... I forget what... when she started at me and says, "Karis? I see the Holy Spirit talking through you, I don't see you talking but the Holy Spirit." I just kind of sat there, processing what she had just said, before Ada called us in to brush our teeth.

The next day, the older youth came and prayed for us. We all were kind of letting tears trickle, but all thought the same. I already invited the Holy Spirit in my life. There is nothing else for me in this prayer time. But when Ada began to pray for Laura, the girl began to sob, and when I went over to lay hands on her and pray for my sister, she began to wail. Falling on her knees to the floor. During the next hour the Holy Spirit entered her and broke the chains, claiming her his own, he filled her up, overflowing her cup. Laura spoke in tongues that day and her life was changed.

When Laura began to sob, it kind of opened doors. Everyone realized that they didn't have that, and they wanted it. Two others spoke in tongues and the rest just wept, beholding the greatness of God and the joy of having their fist big encounter with Elohim. The next day, at church, all of us girls shared our testimony. Everyone of us said something like, "When Laura began to cry...."

Later Laura had another vision, this one was not trampled on by the enemy. It was all of us girls marching through the streets playing trumpets and worshiping the Lord. Months past, and Laura's biggest challenge was her family. Her mom still remained a strong Roman Catholic, and her father remained in something in-between. Laura would come often to the Bible study with a family problem and a cry for guidance.

Laura's faith knocked me down, and the twelve, no eleven, year old really helped me learn what the meaning of fé (faith) is. Laura prayed, and bid us prayer for her family, especially her parents. So when she was baptized, a moth ago, she had the joy of seeing her mother and father rise again with her as new brothers and sisters in Christ. Yes, they were baptized with her, claiming to give their lives to the Lord.

Her parent's testimonies shared how precious their daughter was and with her faith, prayers and light brought them to the realization that Jesus is the way, and the only way. Not only did Laura come to us as a fearful, timid child, she showed how fast faith can multiply when you give it to God. Her tears opened hearts that thought they had it all, and brought her parents to Christ. She is still effecting others, her openness, joy, love and vast faith in unmissable.

My precious sister still inspires me, helps me and supports me. She is un quenchable and the beginning of my army I am to built for God. Trust me, reader, she along with many others will be a great leader one day. I hope our paths run along side each other for a long time yet.
